We implemented an enhanced behavior for checked/unchecked tasks that offers a default visibility setting as well as the possibility to manually show/hide checked tasks. You can read about it here: https://seibert.biz/checklistsshowhidecheckedtasks

We are planning to change this in the near future.

I´m slightly in favor of this suggestion. For short lists it´s not a big deal either way. For longer ones i see the context argument and thinking back to my first usage of "didit" the jumping away of checked tasks felt unnatural.

I was a strong supporter of checked tasks getting out of the way and thus decluttering the checklist. Now I have understood that literally all other solutions do not do this. Google Keep does it which I used a lot for checklists back then.
I did never hear customers rave about it. But we did hear customers who wanted the tasks to stay in place for a better contextual understanding. That's why I support undoing the jumping and keeping the checklist in order.
